Simba and Leo

in Romanian

On 10 March 2006, Simba's life changed forever with the arrival of a little "intruder" with whom he would be obliged to share everything: flat, food, caresses, love ...

It took a week to get over the trauma. Leo is a Bengali born on 16 December 2005. The Bengal Cat is a hybrid between the Leopard Cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) and the domestic cat such as the Abyssinan, American Shorthair, Burmese, or Egyptian Mau.

Now they're friends and peace no longer rules in my home ... and Simba's life quality has improved considerably with his new little friend.

2004: Simba's childhood and adolescence

Here I present Simba, my little tomcat. He's an Abyssinian, born in May 2004. He loves ham more than anytning else.

Simba, when he was a kitten.

Simba with his little brothers. He has 3 brothers. When the picture was taken, the biggest brother was already sold.

Life is but a funnel

Life in a funnel!

On 14 December Simba had an accident. Although I had told him that the stove was a dangerous place, he couldn't control himself that day, thinking there was some more ham there. He jumped up and landed on a red hot plate. The poor cat shrieked jumping up vertically. I was terrified and there was the awful smell of burnt meat. His little pads were hurting and I quickly bustled him off to the vet. It wasn't as bad as I feared, though. The vet put a funnel around his neck to prevent him from licking his little aching pads. He didn't like that at all!
Life in and with a funnel wasn't easy: neither for him nor for me. Twice a day I had to daub his pads with a cortison salve and I had to cut his little claws - only the tranparent top. I couldn't kiss his little pretty snout because it was hidden somewhere in the deepness of the funnel.
With a funnel it's also difficult to eat - the funnel was in the way everywhere.
At night I slept with cat+funnel under my quilt and woke up in the morning with a funnel in my face!
Now this ordeal is over and I hope Simba has learnt to keep away from the stove!

Simba is very intersted in computers, especially in my snarling watch dog screen saver.
